What is STEM? And what can I do with a STEM degree?
STEM is an acronym referring to the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics – offering board and diverse career options from biochemical engineering to software development. At the University of Debrecen, with teaching and research traditions dating back to the 16th century, we consider of high importance to provide outstanding education on STEM, one of the most wanted fields at the job market of the 21th century.

BSc: The Biology BSc program covers a broad range
MSc: Biology MSc course trains the researchers of the future in the fields of genetics, plant biology, ecology, evolutionary biology and zoology.
BSc: Bachelor of Chemistry degrees are awarded to students who have a good grounding in the core areas of chemistry: inorganic, organic, physical, biological and analytical chemistry; and in addition the necessary background in mathematics and physics, while also possessing basic knowledge in several other more specialized areas of chemistry. MSc: Graduates of the MSc programme have significant knowledge in all major fields of chemistry including inorganic, organic, physical, biological, analytical, structural, theoretical and technical chemistry.
BSc: Earth scientists research the specific and complex earth system studying its composition, structure, history, material and energy flow and transformation processes, raw material and energy resources to be utilised, values to be protected together with features and processes that may prove to be hazardous for mankind.
BSc: The aim of the Geography, BSc program is to train professional geographers who have deep insight into spatial processes. Relying on strong geoinformatics base graduates of the program are able to understand the natural, environmental, technical and social phenomena and to develop applied science-based solutions. MSc: Geographer MSc course provides specialized geography knowledge in the fields of environmental science, renewable energy and geoinformatics.
BSc: Students of the Physics BSc program obtain a thorough training in physics form mechanics to particle physics. A solid basic education in natural sciences that our BSc in Physics program provides is a foundation for further studies not only in physics, chemistry, and biology, but also in engineering, informatics and economics.
The objective of the programme is to train physicist, who is able to realize physical principles in natural phenomena, to perform their experimental investigation according to scientific standards, and to obtain the theoretical understanding. The training enables her/him to develop and operate industrial, IT, and measuring systems related to physical laws and high technology processes. The student is able to continuously broaden her/his knowledge and has the aptitude for continuing her/his studies in the framework of doctoral studies.
MSc: The MSc in Environmental Sciences, with specialization in Ecology, Environmental and nature conservation provides knowledge on the main topics regarding environmental sciences, focusing on terrestrial and aquatic environmental protection and ecological and nature conservational aspects.
MSc: Water management MSc course develops knowledge and understanding in physical, chemical, and ecological aspects of water science in temperate, tropical and semi-arid zones.
MSc: The course objective is to provide knowledge of the findings in the field of molecular biology; application of molecular biology techniques; to provide a broad and deep knowledge on the methodology and to train students to be able to approach scientific problems as part of multidisciplinary teams with an emphasis on medicine-related projects.
BSc: The Biochemical Engineer Bachelor of Sciences program offers a unique combination in a variety of studies which together provide a thorough background in the field of biotechnology.
BSc: The course objective is to provide knowledge of understanding/controlling production processes, preparing quality insurance and technical services and solving tasks regarding planning and development.
The training objective of the Chemical Engineering MSc is to improve the supply of engineering professionals, and to keep those with BSc degree from migrating. Our objective is to train professionals who possess the general knowledge, technical intelligence and the basics of natural, social and engineering sciences, which are essential for the practice of the chosen profession.
BSc: The objective of the Civil Engineering BSc program is to train civil engineers who are capable of solving complex plan, design, management, operational and construction problems related to civil engineering in the public sector and private industry. More info =>
BSc: The aim of the program is to provide a comprehensive education that prepares students for a successful engineering practice and/or advanced studies. Students learn about the basic physical laws governing our environment, material science and technology at the micro- and nanometer level, as well as mathematics and informatics.
BSc: The aim of the program is to train mechanical engineers who are able to operate and maintain machines and mechanical devices, introduce engineering technologies and applications, organize and control work-phases, and mechanical development. More info => HERE
MSc: Production Engineering in the field of mechanical engineering is significant branch of science and engineering. It covers designing and elaborating production processes, the conceptions of manufacturing technologies as well as implementing devices and systems, modelling, operating, maintaining, supervising and organizing production tasks.
BSc: The main goal of the program is to train experts who are able to fully provide servicesrelated to the everyday tasks of operation from engineering, biological and chemical work to management duties based on their comprehensive theoretical knowledge.
MSc: The MSc in Animal Husbandry Engineering is designed to develop your undergraduate knowledge and improve it through application and research.
MSc: The field of Environmental Management is broad and the programme reflects this diversity, with emphasis on Natural Resource Management, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Technologies, Environmental Informatics, which are the key research areas of the Department of Water and Environmental Management responsible for the course.
MSc: The aim of the training is to train agricultural water management engineers who are able to use creative engineering in the field of sustainable integrated water management within the field of agricultural water management with the knowledge gained in master's degree.
MSc: The field of Food Science is broad and the programme reflects this diversity, with emphasis on Raw Material Qualifying, Processing Technology, Quality Analysis and Quality Assurance.
MSc: The objective of the program is to prepare professionals for understanding sustainable development and the present problems of rural areas basing on knowledge relating to agriculture, economic management as well as regional and rural development, for cooperating in the determination of the possible directions of development, defining special development programs, managing their realizations and carrying out the monitoring of the processes.
MSc: The aim of the program is to train professionals, having a technical management or engineering degree, who are equipped with scientific, engineering, informatics, economics and organizational knowledge and with a good command of a foreign language and skills to be able to manage complex engineering-economics tasks, plan and implement technical and economic processes and evaluate the results.
MSc: The objective of the program is to train environmental engineers with up-to-date scientific, ecological, engineering, economic and management knowledge to be capable to identify and assess the existing and potential environmental threats, to prevent or reduce environmental damage, to prepare and control damage control projects.
MSc: Mechatronics is relatively new branch of science and engineering and is defined as a "combination of mechanical, electronic, computer, software, control and systems design engineering in order to design, and manufacture useful products".
MSc: The objective of the program is to train urban system engineers who are capable to provide and control activities of urban planning, settlement architecture, principal architecture and technical authorities, administrations and the communal, maintenance, organizational, services, environmental and the protection of urban build environment of a local government.
MSc: The aim of the program is to train IT professionals who, possessing the solid theoretical grounding necessary to further develop their skills over the long term, are capable of performing, at an advanced level, the typically software-oriented development, implementation and servicing tasks related to IT equipment and systems, working either independently or as part of a team.
MSc: The aim of the program is to train IT professionals who, possessing the solid theoretical grounding necessary to further develop their skills over the long term, are capable of performing, at an advanced level, the typically software/hardware-oriented development, embedded system, network implementation and servicing tasks related to IT equipment and systems, working either independently or as part of a team.
BSc: The aim of the program is to provide students with knowledge of basic elements of most important mathematical fields, attain skills in fundamental methods of applied mathematics, useful for technical, economical, statistical and computer modeling.
MSc: The main aim of the program is to provide the students with effective knowledge what they can successfully apply both in the mathematical modelling and in the solution of problems arising in practice. Emphasis is put on the capability of working cooperatively in groups with experts of other fields (computer science, engineering, economics, etc.).
For those students who require additional instruction or review in sciences and in English language we offer foundation year courses to prepare them to study in their chosen degree program.
