Our Chemical Engineering, BSc at the University of Debrecen (UD) trains professionals who possess the foundational knowledge and technical skills that comprise the natural, social and chemical engineering sciences. Students joining this program will acquire the most essential skills in technology and safety, environmental protection, management, and social sciences in 7 semesters.

Program Overview

 
The program starts in September of each year.
 
All courses are taught in English; therefore, a B2 level English proficiency is required.
 
Admission requires a high school certificate and passing entrance exams in Mathematics and either Chemistry or Biology.
 
This is a 3.5-year program consisting of 7 academic semesters
 
Students earn 210 ECTS in total (180 from academic modules plus 30 for the professional internship).
 
The tuition fee for this program is 7,000 USD/Year

Is there an internship incorporated into the program?

Yes, a core component of the degree is a 6-week practice at a company or research institute. This ensures that our graduates are ready for the global market.

What are the career prospects after graduating?

Graduates of this program have a wide array of advanced academic pathways available to them, including MSc programs in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, and Bioengineering. For those interested in high-level research, the University also offers the opportunity to pursue a PhD in Chemistry.
 

 

How can I enroll in the program?

Earning a degree at the University of Debrecen in Hungary provides an EU-accredited qualification recognized across the globe. The admission process is conducted entirely online, featuring written and oral entrance exams designed to evaluate subject-specific knowledge and personal motivation. We also offer a variety of academic merit-based scholarships for our students.

What are the language requirements for Biochemical Engineering Bsc?

Applicants must have an English proficiency of at least B2 level as the program is fully taught in English. For your information, this is equivalent to:

  • a TOEFL test with a minimum score of 513 (Paper-Based).
  • an IELTS test with a minimum score of 5.5.

Please note, that you are not strictly required to have a language exam certificate, your language skills will be assessed during the entrance interview.

Is there an entrance exam for Biochemical Engineering Bsc?

Yes, admission is based on a high school certificate and online entrance exams in mathematics and Chemistry.

Until when can I apply for the program?

Please note that the BSc in Chemical Engineering operates on a single-cycle academic calendar. This program only starts in September of each year. The application deadline is 15th June.

How much does it cost to study Chemical Engineering at the University of Debrecen?

The tuition fee is 7,000 USD / year for this program.

This is supplemented by the application fee of $150 USD (one-time) and the entrance procedure fee of $350 USD that covers the examination and interview. Please note that the application and entrance procedure fees are non-refundable and must be paid via bank transfer to initiate the review process.
