Program Overview

 
The program starts in September of each year.
 
All courses are taught in English; therefore, a B2 level English proficiency is required.
 
Admission requires a high school certificate and passing entrance exams in Chemistry and Mathematics.
 
This is a 3-year program consisting of 6 academic semesters
 
Students earn 180 ECTS in total.
 
The tuition fee for this program is 6,500 USD/Year

What to expect during the program?  

The aim of this study program is the training of chemists possessing theoretical and practical knowledge in chemistry as well as satisfactory basic knowledge in related fields of science (e. g. mathematics, physics, informatics, biology) and at least one foreign language. Degree holders will be able to apply their knowledge in recognizing and solving practical problems in industrial chemical production, in analytical, agricultural, and quality assurance laboratories, as well as in various fields of administration and environmental protection. To achieve this, in practice, this means a curriculum rich in hands-on experience, a mandatory internship included in their curriculum, and a comprehensive selection of specialized subjects.

Is there an internship incorporated into the program?

Yes, students must complete a 6-week practice either at a company or research institute.

 

What are the career prospects after graduating as a Chemist?

Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry will find themselves qualified for entry-level positions as clinical laboratory technologists, chemists, or materials scientists. Upon completion of the program, graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies in various MSc programs, including MSc programs in chemistry, chemical engineering, molecular biology.

 

 

 

How can I enroll in the program?

The University of Debrecen admission process is designed for international applicants through online written tests and oral interviews. Studying at the University of Debrecen is the key to your internationally recognized degree. We also offer a variety of academic merit-based scholarships.

 

What are the language requirements for Chemistry, BSc?

Applicants must have an English proficiency of at least B2 level as the program is fully taught in English. For your information, this is equivalent to:

  • a TOEFL test with a minimum score of 513 (Paper-Based).
  • an IELTS test with a minimum score of 5.5.

Please note, that you are not strictly required to have a language exam certificate, your language skills will be assessed during the entrance interview.

 

Is there an entrance exam for Chemistry, BSc?

Yes, admission is based on a high school certificate and online written and oral entrance exams in Chemistry and Mathematics.

Until when can I apply for the program?

Please note that the BSc in Chemistry operates on a single-intake academic calendar. This program only starts in September of each year. The application deadline in the self-financed procedure is 15th June.

How much does it cost to study Chemistry, BSc at the University of Debrecen?

The tuition fee is 6,500 USD / year for this program. This is supplemented by the application fee of $150 USD (one-time) and the entrance procedure fee of $350 USD that covers the examination and interview. Please note that the application and entrance procedure fees are non-refundable and must be paid via bank transfer to initiate the review process.
